Preserving Virginia's unique character is an important resource that strengthens the economic health of our communities. Preserving and restoring Virginia's downtown's increases tourism, provides a competing edge to attract new businesses and industries to our towns and cities by creating a more desirable living environment for employees and their families, preserves the environment by reducing traffic congestion to 'urban sprawl neighborhoods' and maximizing an infrastructure which is already in place, and creates economic prosperity by creating new jobs with the restoration effort and resulting employment opportunities which puts more money back in the local economy.
